THE Prince of Wales
A very fine copy of John Russell’s “Royal” barometer. Russell was
watchmaker to the Prince of Wales later George IV. The case is made
from solid mahogany, edged with twisted brass and crowned with the
Prince of Wales feathers. The reverse painted glass panels are
executed in gold on a black background. The enamel finish dial is
calibrated in inches and allows the reading of pressure changes to
100th of an inch. Silver plated thermometer scale with Fahrenheit and
the Royal Society scale.
